Mindset for Life spring update

21 September, 2019

We have a had a busy winter here at Think Human, running Mindset for Life in seven locations for 90 people over a six-week period!

Thanks to the great team of peer convenors who made it all possible: Bob, Stephen, John and Vicki here at Think Human, along with Helen volunteering at Port Adelaide Enfield and Cathie, Active Ageing lead at Campbelltown Council. We really couldn’t have done it all without you!

We have been delighted with the feedback on how the program is helping people navigate their retirement transition, with many people taking up new opportunities and making new connections as a result of what they have discussed and thought about with their peers. As spring slowly arrives, we have turned our focus to building the capacity of other agencies to run the program. Get in touch to find out more about our Organisation Training Day on 31st October, or head over to our events page to book in.

We are also building the growing network of people who have now completed the program. In early October over 30 Mindset for Life participants will be getting together to reconnect and check in with each other on their progress, as well as work together to design the next stages of the program.

Meanwhile we continue to roll out the Core Program to venues new and old. We are running the program for Marion Council staff in September/October and one of our earliest partners, Campbelltown Council, is running the program again in October (head over to our events page for details). We ran a successful Taster session for Murray Bridge Council in early September and look forward to building more regional partnerships around SA into 2020.

Finally, Think Human director and Mindset for Life lead, Melanie Lambert, will be presenting about the program at the Australian Association for Gerontology Annual conference in Sydney and the International Conference on Ageing and Spirituality in Canberra in October/November.

We continue to be supported by SA Health’s Office for Ageing Well.
